ASAPA has announced “A Taste of Animethon” on the Animethon website.
“At Taste of Animethon has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at MacEwan from 10:00-5:00pm and promises to give a preview of Animethon 17 by hosting a several Anime Showing, an AMV show, panels, and Cosplay Contest. It will also host a vendor’s hall/artist alley section as well as a way to pre-reg for Animethon 16 in person.
Announcement of the event has come as a surprise as it is scheduled to occur only a week before Camrose’s Japanese Animation Festival (March 6 & 7, 2010) and two weeks before the Soba Bowl (March 13, 2010) — making 3 consecutive anime festivals in a row.
Several details such as the price of admission and how to sign up for panels as well as Artist Alley is still pending. Although, the Animethon Deviant Art Page reports that applications for The Taste of Animethon Artist Alley are due as soon as February 6, 2010 with already 6 of the 24 available spots taken.
Animethon has promised to give me more information soon.
