History

In the Beginning

Anime-Alberta.org was created by Mark Nguyen and Daniel Ross to provide a common place for the Alberta Anime Community to come together and to support the community. The site was a tremendous success and became one of the largest online Anime Communities in Western Canada.

During their administration, Anime-Alberta continued to support the community be organizing meetups, dinners, and even created a T-Shirt along with BAKA and other clubs. Anime-Alberta also provided a forum and support to Animethon 11 and ASAPA during it’s founding.

A Transfer of Ownership

In 2008, Mark Nguyen and Daniel Ross decided that they would retire from Anime-Alberta and left the site too Vlad Pohnert, Blair Semple, and Victor Vargas.

Early 2009 was a dark time. Members started proteting a lack of promised and long awaited improvements to the site. A steady invasion of spam bots as well as a server crash caused the site to crash. Also, Vlad Pohnert and Blair Semple decided to leave administration of the site.

However in by September of 2009, the site was back with a new forum and front end. The site also began to report on new in the anime community as well as provide the community with support in the form of websites and advertising.
